Pottery and Sculpture

Pottery and Sculpture

Although I don't currently have the facilities to produce any work in 3D, I thought it would be nice to share some images of my older pieces that I've kept.

Roman inspired bowlsThe first three bowls, are thrown, and were designed with Roman slip casting techniques in mind.  they are plain stoneware with random white slip trailing, with examples shown with and without a clear glaze.

Celtic inspired potteryThe second two small thrown pieces are decorated with celtic images, using scraffitti, and filling the etched layers with colour.

Victorian majolica inspired potteryVictorian majolica inspired potteryThis piece was made from two thrown pieces, and adding quite deep sculpture to turn the raised bowl into an apple tree, with rabbits around the base.  The colours used were in imitation of the Victorian majolica type pottery.

Earthenware potteryThese two small turned pieces are thrown out of earthenware, a beautiful and rich chestnut colour, with a clean white slip decorated interior.

Rolling horse sculptureThis rolling horse, was sculpted from stoneware, and decorated with an opaque blue tinted glaze.

Elephant sculptureElephant sculptureThis elephant was made specifically to match a piece that I'd bought in Africa, with some light etched decoration, and plain colours.
